Mod Chips have been used ever since the gaming console came out to play pirated games on them. It started with playstation 1 and continued as the technology evolved. Playstation 2, Xbox, Dreamcast, PLaystation 3, Gamecube, Xbox 360, and now Nintendo Wii, all had to use mod chips to play pirated games on them.
But there are always some problems with mod chips. Here is a list of problems.
1. They are extremely hard to install. It is impossible for a normal person to install them. In fact, it became a business for many people to buy consoles, mod them and sell them for a much higher price.
2. They are not readily available. You will either have to buy them online or find some shady business shops who sell them. The former takes a lot of time deliver and the latter is hard to find.
3. They void your warranty. Everything above is fine if they are worth the time and effort. But the fact is they void the warranty and if your console gets damaged, then you can’t give it to Nintendo.
